Baklava and Turkish desserts in Bratislava — what to order after kebab

Baklava, künefe, sütlaç — three Turkish desserts you don't want to miss in Bratislava.

Lunch with us usually doesn't end with kebab. After the meat comes tea, Turkish coffee and something sweet. Three Turkish desserts we bake ourselves.

Baklava — queen of desserts

Baklava is thin layers of filo pastry, brushed with melted butter, filled with ground pistachio, baked to gold and drizzled with a syrup of sugar, lemon and honey.

At our place:

  • 35 dough layers — by hand
  • Pistachios from Turkish Gaziantep
  • Syrup simmered for 45 minutes

Price: €2.50 for 2 pieces. Served with Turkish coffee or tea.

Künefe — the cheese dessert that looks like gold

Künefe is cheese (Turkish kaşar), layered between thin strands of kadayıf pastry, baked in a hot pan and drizzled with syrup.

Available at Nivy and Hodiny daily. At Aupark and VIVO! on weekends.

Price: €4.80.

Sütlaç — Turkish rice pudding

Cooked with rice, milk, sugar and vanilla, with the top layer caramelised by flame. Cold, creamy inside, with a crisp caramel crust.

Available at all branches. Price: €3.20.

Turkish coffee — more than a dessert

Turkish coffee is brewed in a cezve with water and finely ground coffee. No milk. Sweetness is decided before brewing.

At Hodiny you can also order a cup-reading — a Turkish tradition predicting the future from the grounds. Price: €2.50.
